Katy Sumrow, accompanied Mary Pinto, will perform seldom-heard
Polish art songs, including works by Karol Szymanowski,
Stanislaw Moniuszko, Mieczyslaw
Karlowicz and Frédéric
Chopin.
Her program concludes with a set of songs by Harold Arlen and George Gershwin.
Ms. Sumrow is a native of Gdansk, Poland, and a graduate of the
esteemed Chopin School of Music in Warsaw. She has performed with the Warsaw
Philharmonic Choir (including the Polish Requiem under the baton of
Leonard Bernstein) and is a founding member of the Baroque ensemble Buccina Cantorum
and has recorded aCD Music of the Italian
Baroque. Over the last four years, Ms. Sumrow has been a member of the
State Repertory Opera of New Jersey and performed in productions of Lucia
di Lammermoor, Il Trovatore, Elisir
D'Amore and Don Pasquale.
